Small files, explained honestly
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser so it can remember something between page loads. We use only a modest handful, and this page tells you which ones, what each is for, and how to switch the optional ones off. If you would rather run the site with the bare minimum, you can, and it will still work.
You get to decide how much you allow.
Why we use them at all
Some cookies keep the site functioning, such as remembering that you have already dismissed a notice. Others let us count visits so we can see which reviews people actually read. We do not use cookies to follow you around the wider web, and we do not run advertising trackers that build a profile on you.
The categories we use
- Essential. These make the site work: they handle basic navigation, security and remembering your cookie choice. You cannot switch these off through us, because without them the pages break, but they hold no marketing data.
- Analytics. These count page views, rough location and device type in aggregate so we know what is worth writing more of. They are optional, and the data is used for trends, not for identifying you personally.
- Preference. These remember small choices, like a banner you have closed or a display option, so you do not see the same prompt every visit. Also optional.
Third-party cookies
Our analytics tool sets its own cookies to do the counting. When you click a "play for real money" /go/ link and leave for a gambling operator, that operator sets its own cookies under its own policy, which we do not control. Nothing on this site plants a gambling operator's tracking cookie in your browser before you choose to go there.
How to control them
You are never stuck with cookies you do not want. Here is how to manage them:
- Use the cookie notice on the site to accept or refuse the optional categories.
- Open your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Every major browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) lets you clear existing cookies and refuse new ones, either site by site or across the board.
- Turn on private or incognito browsing, which drops most cookies when you close the window.
If you block the essential ones, expect some things to behave oddly. If you block analytics and preference cookies, the site still reads perfectly, though we will not remember your small choices and our traffic counts will simply miss you. That is a fair trade, and it is yours to make.
